Holding My Silence

Walking toward the classroom door, My head, it hangs with shame. The future seems so dreary, so poor, And I’m forced to take the blame. I push the door with light fingertips, and open, it sweeps wide. The truth flutters on my lips, all the times that I’ve lied. Into view comes the classroom scene, alive with movement and chatter. Bright faces smile, with eyes so keen, all while I avoid the latter. Taking a seat, I hold my silence, holding my breath so still. I could truly use some guidance, I’ve really had my fill. I can take this no more, I’m sure to explode, don’t want to see what’s in store, farther down this road.
