Holding On

I tend to hold onto things that I probably shouldn’t. Memories that I know I should cast away, Like unwanted trash on a Tuesday night. And yet, I don’t. I hold them like valuables I mustn’t lose. But then again, we all hold onto things that we shouldn’t. Relics of a past that no one else knows about, A past that will never occur again. It’s the one thing that every human does. Maybe we’re all foolish. Sometimes I reflect on these lost dreams. I like to imagine worlds that will never exist. I think we all do. Hope for things in vain. Our feelings are too complex. Maybe that’s why we have so many flaws. With every human born, the same mistakes are repeated. Like our everyday life. So many things end in pain. Maybe that’s why we survived. Hope that we could lessen the pain. Another fatal flaw.
