Holding On Until I'm Gone

Sweet chocolates and flowers, the presents you get me.

Sweet smiles and laughter, your grin from ear to ear.

Though I wasn't aware of what was behind your charm.

Beatings and swearing, pain painted blue and purple on my skin.

Complaints and shattered glass, another dish broken

Unsure of what to say, I stayed with you.

Brushing off the warnings, ignoring my mother's pleads.

Cleaned up the damage, excuses to get us by.

But it wasn't enough for you.

Cold corpse and warm blood, my body is still.

My work and efforts, wasted on swine.

I did everything, because I loved you.
