The Hole
At 13 I jumped into a hole.
Deep and dark.
Lonely and consuming.
I reached for the surface.
I grabbed a knife
Bleeding out the pain.
I screamed out
As I kept falling
Slowly and tortured.
I begged and pleaded
Wanting freedom
Wishing for death.
At 18 I climed sacred steps
Up and up I went.
Out of the hole.
I was in the light.
I fooled myself and everyone else.
I was never free.
I was never in the hole.
At 19 I realize
I am the hole.
Trapped, afraid, and alone
I can feel the darkness.
It's taking me.
Goodbye.
