the hole in the wall

I got lost in the idea of what I wanted
What I was looking for
Only I am not lost
Im here
I just got lost along the way
I got lost on the on the ship
When coming over
And when I’m in the bottom
Of the ship it easy
Too see how you get lost
My people ate potatoes
Because that’s all they had to eat
But look all the things we
Did to potatoes
That we didn’t see back then
Yeah that’s right
My people are eating
Mash potatoes, tator tots, home fries and
How can you forget were eating French fires!
I look up in the bottom of the boat and
Now I know
I am not lost
For I am traveling
I am looking at new land,
Trees, endless oceans,
I’ve got my head up in the clouds
And I’m surfing them
I am building road along the way
I am building highways, overpasses,
Airway, space, circles.
I’m creating circles.
Yeah who the fuck thought of this
Is what I think of?
When I’m driving through one
And while I’m driving I am
Seeing roadwork, traffic signs,
Traffic lights
I trust in.
I trust in these light because they are
Always greener on the other side.
And I’m seeing exits.
And one exit that
I get off on everyday
Its exit 10
Where I got to a whole on a wall.
Where I loose myself in the day
Where I listen to reggae
The beach boys
I’m not looking for anything
For I already found it
I found myself
This what my people want
This is what we came over to do
My people
And out of hundred names
Out of the thousands
There were two
O’Boyle and McDermott.
And there’s no aggie.
There’s i.e.
And I never cared
For grammar school.
Because I knew when they
Taught me that I doesn’t come after e
I began to question my name
And my grams told me
Never to question your name
Ann aggie McDermott
There’s no O’Boyle
Because my people
Dropped the o
When
Coming over
But they weren’t on the way to America
They were on the way to Cape May
