Holly

an icy surface

that barely let the light through

the rush

is what I crave

desire

all nerve endings exposed

as they once were

the smile that has always stopped me dead in my tracks

somewhere we lost our footing

our grip that exposed all that we are

our normal

a mask of dreams burned at the core

there is always a makeup to cover

another remedy to soften the noise

the dreams of a girl

who lacked self-control

at the time it seemed

a flaw

straighten out the broken

the passing of hours has proved

that girl was right

she wasn't influenced

wasn't molded into a perfect shape

she wasn’t enough for him

to leave.
