Homage To My Hands
Theses hands are big hands;
They hold an abundance of love and pain-
Sunshine and rain
They DO NOT meadow in foolishness.
These hands are good hands.
They DO NOT like to be tarnished;
These hands have always been helpful.
They go where they want to go;
They do what they want to do.
These hands are mighty hands.
These hands are magic hands.
I have known them to smite all iniquity.
These hands are not my own,
But to whom the ancestors I belong.
