Leaving home on my own

No one to care for me but me

Traveling fast – as fast as I can

Watching people pass by

Some wave

Some try to stop me

My heart races

My lungs pant

My feet ache with each pounding step

I hear cheering in the distance

Is it for me?

I’m chased

I’m scared

I need to go home where I’m safe

I see the end – it’s near

I reach towards the familiar

I’m home, finally home
