i gotta cup full of change
pour out people looking at me strange
got scruff that hang lower then your chains
i drink the water i collect in my cup from the rain
catch the bus travel block to block there isnt a purse out of my range
hold my cup up proud everybody knows my name
little kids pointing fingers at me like im the one to blame
from shop to shop tryin to get my hands on whatever you got
shirts, sox, even the packiging it came in i need a cardboard box
the world is rough, my situation is drastic
never lose my touch i need some sense for real but all they flash is plastic
want the truth about where your money goes when it drops in to my cup full of plenty woes
back into the economy where do you think i get all my jcpenny chlothes
im in a sinking boat, my home sunk and im barely afloat
holding on to a piece of styrofoam like its my last hope
rationalize the situation from a perspective of depreciation
my dollars losing value because its change im making i work hard
get paid in nickles and dimes its a heck of a job
the definition of 3rd world, i skipped one and two
look up at the sky in the night you might catch me talking to the moon
i free my soul the breeze of the night cold puts a smile on my face
sneaking around on my tippy toes from place to place
i extend my grace by cleaning up your dinner plates
and leave with haste i dont want to overextend my stay
your home is your dome my streets is my turf
now you understand why i get mad when you step on this part of my earth
no place to go, to call my own, my home
i reside besides the alleys and dumpsters and share a place with the flies
sometimes i get a tear in my eye from the stink that im by
cant handle the stench of all the leftover chicken fried rice
up all night if you listen close you can hear the world cry
feel the rain and its pain life is a game and right now its a tie
you help me out by lending me coins but dont get it twisted
im returning the favor we both givin into each others own self interest
i take your change and in return you looking for gods forgiveness
with your coins you supporting my unorthodox business
