HOMELESS

When you have nowhere to go

It is a torrid way to live

The shelters can only take a select few

The homeless population continues to grow

Imagine not having a roof over your head

Especially on those cold winter days

Smelling like old wet dog seeking for a place to rest

It is ice cold, the wind piercing like needles throughout their bodies

Only cardboard separating them from frostbite

Would you be able to survive the winter?

Their family abandoned them a long time ago

They do not even recognize them anymore

They have been cast aside like the rubbish they are sleeping on

They drink spirits just to keep warm

Where are their friends now?

The ones who told them that they will have their backs?

Why can’t they help them, so that their lives can be on track?

They have little, yet they are content

Some of us have plenty, but still want more

We want to be picky in a store

Whilst others are happy with what they can get

Anything is good for them, as long as they do not whined up dead,

The dreaded weather has taken many lives

Home is where the heart is so they say

Are you trying to say that there is nothing left?

Having no access to basic needs is a living nightmare

Now you are in your cozy house

Not knowing what to wear

While the homeless just wants to be warm

Imagine lying on the cold ground

How does that sound?

                                   LIVE WELL AND DIE OLD
