Homeric Simile

I look in the mirror and I see Someone else looking back A pure beauty Her eyes are sparkling and wide as can be So young and innocent It’s hard to believe Her hair is artistically curled and soft locks hang With a dress so elegant She’s claiming her fame Her mind is picturing the lights The music and the crowd And everywhere she sees the people dancing around Her dream fortunately comes true For a sweet lady with a mother’s touch Helps the young and innocent girl with her preparation Such as when the grey-eyed goddess Helped to make the loyal Penelope look flawless Penelope was presenting herself to the rowdy suitors The same men who sat all day Waiting to pursue her The girl’s mother is similar to the goddess tonight Always aiding the girl throughout her life As when Athena aided Odysseus on his journey home Afraid he would never reach his beloved Ithaca She gave him hope and made sure he was never truly alone The girl’s mother did her hair and brushed on the soft glitter Swiping the deep red on her lips As such when the thousands went to Troy All facing a bloody doom after landing their ships The sweet lady embraced her daughter And saw her off In another time Penelope said goodbye to her only love Saying sweet words to him And praying for his safety to the heavens above The mother was seeing no one else but her sweet girl So young and innocent as she Carrying the answer to her mother’s entire World
