Homework
Oh here I am
Up so late at night.
No one truly knows
About this fight.
There is so much
It comes in piles.
They reach into the heavens
And keep going for miles.
I can’t comprehend
This great quantity.
It’s going to shorten
My life’s longevity.
I don’t understand
What it’s about.
I’m just about ready
To throw it all out.
I get up each morning
With so much stress.
I’m so preoccupied,
I can’t even dress.
My backpack has…,
Oh! Don’t get me started.
With rips each second,
Sounds like it farted.
I shuffle into class
And cringe in fear,
In hopes that my grade
Doesn’t downwardly veer.
I immediately know
There will be more.
How does she grade
Homework galore?
I decide I’m done
And go to debate.
I know if I lose,
It won’t be great.
I thoroughly defend
And give my blame,
But her response
Is really quite lame.
She then puts forth
All the reasons why.
This makes as much sense
As why we CAN fly!
The explanation is
Darker than mud.
She screams loudly,
“Work! Mr. Fudd!”
I ask repeatedly
And a reason is shown,
That homework is to help
And show my knowledge has grown.
I’m still baffled
And don’t understand.
What’s the homework for?
My head won’t expand.
Oh! But then
It dawns on me.
I do this so I’ll
Be living debt free.
But suddenly
I’m puzzled.
Boy am I
Really confuzzled.
The two voices
In my head
Are fighting greatly,
Oh! What a dread.
How can we stop
This homework feud?
The system says work!
As I’ve been cued.
So homework I shall do.
