The Hood

I hear the voices of ghetto children screaming,

And I see the decline of impoverished people dreaming.

I am seeing bullets carry bodies to the graves.

I am seeing cocaine turning people to slaves.

I am seeing the homeless sleeping on rocks.

I am seeing little children with no shoes and socks.

I am seeing the droput rate grow,

And on the news reports they are calling me and my people intellectually slow.

How did we get so low?

Are we chained to these ways?

Are we not priviledged to see better days?

I am from the ''hood'', the ''slums'' where they say: ''all that are produced there are bums.''

They say, ''they're not teachable, and most of them are unreachable.

All we know how to do is murder and steal''

But what these damn people do not know that the struggle is real

I dare you to give up your comfort and come into our situations and see what you'll do for a meal

I know we are not the best,

But we also have a beating heart in our chest.

We love and we hurt.

Do you think we do not feel pain when our homies get put in the dirt?

Yes, I come from the hood,

But we also are human, and we can also do good.
