Hope

The world cries out for forgiveness,

Its people pray for mercy.

War fills the air with the stench of rotting flesh,

Soldiers pray for mercy.

Pain and suffering envelope homes,

Women pray for mercy.

Bare-foot as they run and play,

Children pray for mercy.

For a moment, all is quiet.

Gunshots silenced, cannons hushed.

Hope is born.
