Hope
I stare,
High up, towards the shining glittering sky,
Where I see glowing stars, posed as glimpses of promising hope
Millions of stars, Millions of opportunities,
waiting for the right man to enter the star to enter a new world of hope,
I try to enter, I try to reach towards a star,
Any star would benefit in my fragile state,
I reach, farther than my hands can even manage to reach,
I fall short, by a couple thousand miles,
As my hands crash back down to the unforgiving earth,
Where hope is kidnapped,
Murdered by the unfaithful humanity that has left me desperate,
Desperate for hope that helps me break these chains,
The chains that tie me to the cell of doom
There is no way to break free.
Then I look up at the sky, once again
I see a new light,
Not from the twinkling stars, not from the reflecting moon, nor the life-giving sun,
But this light is from God,
And I tremble, as I remember,
How easy it is to forget,
The one who gives,
Also takes,
And is gracious enough to give back hope,
I was wishing, where I should've been praying, to the Merciful One.
I look up to the starry sky, one last time,
Not to wish for unpromising things,
No,
I look up to the sky, and say God is Greatest
