Hope

When depression rises, and all seems pointless,

There's nothing to rely on.

No gleam of hope, no passion left,

There's not much to go home to.

There's got to be something, some promise, real or fake,

It's just something I need to hold onto.

When life is ugly, no one cares,

I must have the hope of better.

It is this hope, I know so well,

Because there isn't much else out there, is there?

This humble life, it takes, it takes,

But hope tells me I'll prosper.
