Hope

If I were stranded on a deserted island

With nothing but the dirt on my hands

And the painful exhales transferring

From my body into the air

All I need would be right in front of me

In the form of Hope.

If I were stranded on a deserted island

I would be lacking

Lacking what I have taken for granted

What God had once blessed me with

But what he instilled in me was

Hope.

If I were stranded on a deserted island

I would drop my knees into the hard, hot, grains of sand

And give all the glory from my being

Up into the sun

Up into the Heavens

If I were stranded on a deserted island

I would crack my parched lips into a smile

As I know I would be taken care of

Through my Faith, through my Hope

And I would inhale as the bounty

Of rain falls onto my parched tongue

And I know I am taken care of

Because I had what I needed with me all along

On the deserted island, there was Hope

And that was all I needed.
