hope

Hope
The world sleeps

The midnight goddess weeps

Still..I hope

Soon the gods switch

I awake with a new day itch.

still..I hope.

I walk to school,

Time to deal with public ridicule.

Still.. I hope.

Walking through the halls one incurs stares

This one finds a lack of care.

Still..I hope

Studies pile, mountains and monuments to an abstract grading scale.

Pushing to find the best wording for the assignments gets stale

still...I hope

Letters from Colleges come,

Along with the reality of a lack of funds

still...I hope

Everyone wonders why

Why do I stay atop my pillar of excellent grades up in the dawnless sky?

Why do I ignore my pain

Why don't I care for others disdain?

Why do I do as I please

Why I ignore exhaustions pleas

Why my own success matters more than life itself

Why it seems I’m killing myself

Why I work towards my goals,

For a future barely within my grasp..

The secret...is hope
