Hope

She packed all that she could

she carried the kids

placed them in the van

drove for miles and miles

slept under overpasses

in reststops

every mile she gained

she felt free

her soul was singing

her heart racing

she was crying from fear,

from joy

from relief

She made it

she was not a statistic

her children were safe

she was finally free
