Hope

to hear the water rushing,
across the thirsty ground.
the suction of the crevices,
as they fight for every drop.

dried out:
by the unrelenting sun
that brings in life
to bombard it with its rays,
until the cracks are deep and the rest had dried to dust.

At first there’s just a trickle:
unrecognizable, unfathomable.
thoughts of safety,
withered long ago,
are a foreign concept ready for exploration.

It floods in faster now,
soaking the barren ground,
rejuvinating life,
replenishing hopes and dreams,
basking in the safety,
pushing thoughts down of the heat that is yet to come.
