Hope

In this world of struggle and hardship and hate

There is the light of hope.

Those who still stand

For what is good and what is right and what is compassion.

Who welcome in those who are broken

Those who have nothing, who believe they are nothing.

Who have struggled, been beaten down

By the pure cruelty of this world, but yet have held on.

Have clung to the thought of this hope

This image of someone they prayed existed.

To come lift them out of their desperation and despondency

To save them from themselves.

From their minds and from their souls

For their minds and their souls have been destroyed.

Destroyed by the carelessness and negligence

Of those who believe they are nothing.
