Hope in the Dark
Who am I to ay you ae not there?
When you are the one who pulled me from that snare.
Your redeeming blood poured out for all.
Even for us, who descended like the fall.
It's here in the dark, the Devil at his best,
That death was all my heart promised to confess.
Countless nights send in endless tears,
I only gave up, handed in the flag, dove into my fears
In my mind I was gone, a lonely lost cause,
But You were there to pull me from Death's claws.
All life vanished, my body limp like a long lost carcass.
Even at that moment You came and deemed me blameless
How could I not see, the seething evil in me?
When I was suffocating, drowing in a tearful sea.
I faught against Your every move, pushing you away.
Yet You followed after me, loving me despite what I'd say.
I had blinds for eyes, a blackened heart that cursed Your name.
So pinning You to that cross, I tore away accepting the flame.
So who was I but that theif to Your left?
Ignorant, conceited, turning into the deaf.
I laugh at myself, trying to hide a broken soul,
Completely ignoring You, the only one who can make me whole.
You mourned my state but never left the broken hearted.
Only You sadly noticed, I was the sickly departed.
I stood on my own, the world thrown on my shoulders,
Death was now my angel as the world only grew colder.
"Why have You left me?! Forsaken me. Why have You forgotten..."
But even with those words You never onced called me rotten.
"I am the damned! YOU are obviously no where near..."
Screaming at my pain I was shot down by the Devil's spear.
"Prove to me You're real, or I'll accept my fate down here in Hell forever."
It was then You grabbed me, never to sever,
"Look up my daughter, open your eyes and see me now."
In searing pain I fall down only able to mouth...how?
"I'll show you a vision, a story, one made just for you."
In shock I sat watching, the Creator hung before the few.
He was broken and bleeding, a crown of royalty traded for a crown of thorns.
A throne given up for an undignified death, He bore the burdens of all who were torn.
Tears stream down my face as You gaze down at me, "Forever, I'll love you."
You smiled at me taking Your last breath just to make me new.
Your body hung upon the cross, blood pouring from Your side.
You had given up the Heavens, just to make me Your bride.
I cried out in horror, knowing I was the hammer.
"I did this! I killed You...the ultimate Amor."
"But I am not gone..." You whisper in my ear.
"I destroyed death so let me make this clear."
"This I did so that You may live. I love you my daughter."
Here from Hell, the forbidden darkness, I grabbed the hand of the Potter.
"Please...save me from myelf! Make these dry bones flesh!"
For the first time ever I saw the light, a chance to be made fresh.
He was the light in the dark, bringing me back from death.
Like a newborn baby, taking life's first breath.
Once insane, born to the flames, a crazed lunatic.
Now free, raised from ashes, just like a Pheonix.
I traded sorrow for joy, pain for laughter.
Destroying the old and smiling at the Master.
It's a tale of death and joyous ressurection.
It's about a Father giving a life saving Injection.
A horrid chained soul damned to a fiery abyss.
Now set free soaring high from bliss.
So who am I to say You are not there?
When You're the one who came and woke me from my nightmare.
You gave me light, a hope in the dark.
You picked me up, reigniting my dead spark.
So here I am with some words to offer to You.
Here they are, "Jesus, I love you."
