Hope in Hard Times

You know those times
When things don’t go your way,
When you’ve tried all that you can
But the world won’t give you say?
You know that moment
When you’re just so fed up
You want to scream at the skies
Until they open up?
Frustration swelling
Hurt slowly creeping in . . .

Now slowly take deep breaths
This devil cannot win.
You know those times
When things don’t go your way?
Perhaps what’s best for me
Is when I do not get my say.
You know that moment
When you’re just so fed up?
Please wait a little longer
Those gates will open up.
These things will always happen
It’s part of life’s old game
For darkness to attempt
To quench your ever-burning flame.
Yes, those times will pass
But take the lesson they teach:
No matter the hardship,
Hope is always within reach.
