Hope for the locked-down

We obeyed their marching orders in March And from where we forage for food we marched Since we obeyed that order Life for us ceased to be in order We get report of Covid 19 war To tens, hundreds, thousands and more Corona Casualties daily increase In reverse order our pockets increase Against the virus we have our facemasks But anxiously we wait with hunger as our face marks Against the virus we maintain social distance Against us they maintain economic distance “Wash your hands,” they say We wish this ritual is followed by a food tray With soap and running water they insist we wash But out for the tray we continue to watch In this lockdown austerity They say palliatives are released to tame our adversity But the impact of these claims is cosmetic Or is it asymptomatic? If they insist we use a hand sanitizer But care not whether we have an appetizer Then this clime and time require not only a hand sanitizer But also a heart sanitizer Stay safe they say When we have no pay to save the day Yesterday God saved our day We expect the same today Martin Efadi August, 2020
