A Hope to No Surrenders
A trench,
Empty and dark,
Following my every move,
Waiting for me to fall.
Rage,
Finds its way in front of me,
Tries luring me in,
As if it were a siren
I trip and find myself,
Spiraling,
To a helpless fate.
Now holding on,
One lonely hand,
Reaching,
There is nothing.
I grow weaker and weaker,
Only a morsel of hope,
To keep me from admitting defeat.
I strive to find a foothold,
Something to grasp,
I slip,
Only to be caught by a cold brave figure.
A man,
Strong but gentle,
Pulls me to my feet.
His kind eyes and witty smile blind me of my distress,
Giving me the courage to stand tall,
And the strength to escape my insecurity.
