Hopeless ... maybe

1 Peter 3:15 New English Translation (NET Bible)

15 But set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and

always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess.

Hopeless … maybe?

Maybe what is left to cherish

should be moved far behind me.

For seeds sowed soon will flourish,

but the fruits are not mine to be.

There is no hope unless Christ is here

and that’s bringing some consolation.

As possibly I’m blinded like a deer

in the headlights of frustration.

What about the rest of the troop

whose teeth are always sharpened,

as they chew up the trusted in their loop

while their conscience is never bothered?

The men I seemingly trusted for so long

aren’t they the ones, who should keep me,

but now they’re selling me as overdone

because they just wanted to cheat me?

Are my expectations just above zero?

Where then are "my" heroes?
