hopelessly in love

and so I fell in love with the way he fell asleep at night

the way he breathed unevenly

the annoying way he held me captive -

during every phone call

the way he made me late to meetings

the way he laughed

smiled

cried

the way his eyes lit up when he saw me

the way his chest felt beneath my head

the way he hugged me

the way he spoke about his dreams

and mine

and ours

the way he kissed me

the way he loved children

the way he loved me.
