Hoping
tears streamed down my face
as the sun sank and the roads of the world grew dark.
forever,
heartsick tears.
with bleak parting words
the starry skies disappeared
into a wretched,
deadly night.
in this joyless kingdom where one becomes a broken man
i tell you all the truth
if you can escape;
go.
i’d say the night is endless
here
i cried out to her, words winging into the darkness.
cries flown like a dream
but she answered not a word.
i said prayers to the gods
that I could hold out here till Dawns first light
that maybe her wild,
fiery eyes
would be alive in the light of day
