Hospital

Those walls, oh so white and thin

Whiter than winter snow but just as cold

With people rushing all around me

All in blue, a pale navy blue

Laying

On the ice cold table

With a blinding light over me

I shiver, but there is no blanket

The room gets freezing

They tell me to close my eyes

That it won’t be long

They lie

I feel the prickle of needles

The sense of pain coming near

In no time at all are my eyes drowsy

But my body doesn’t want to sleep

Questions pour through my head

Are they going to help me?

Will they make the pain stop?

Sadly, I can’t answer these questions

I wake to lights hovering above

In a barren, unknown, strange room

Where beds surround me from every direction

Alone, confused, distressed

Let me out of this place

Break free from the bitter white walls

Which hold me to this hospital bed

Be free once again
