An Hour

An Hour

October 6, 2019

Alone we sat

Rehearsing our speeches

Your eyes, soft and caring

Your voice gentle like that of an angels

Alone we lay

Remembering our pasts

I asked about the cuts on your body

Your hands trembled as you spoke

Alone we gazed into each other's eyes

In a soft lit room, our energy's bonded

I yearned to keep you safe from the night

To keep you warm from society's frozen hearts

Alone we turned out the lights
