The House

As soon as I walk out the door,

I feel my heart brighten.

It is sunny outside and everything is okay.

For a little while.

I go to school to enjoy learning.

I have fun with my friends.

It is a marvelous day and everything is okay.

For a little while.

The bell rings and it is time to leave.

I roll the windows of my car down and drive.

I feel free and everything is okay.

For a little while.

I slowly drive up the driveway,

I cannot believe my day is already over.

I walk up to the door and open it.

And absolutely nothing is okay anymore.
