The House of Dolls

The House of Dolls

11 - 6 - 19

Wiping away tears

reapplying my face

Father screams and yells

Stepmother sits and watches

How I wish I could run

Run away from from them

Away from the hate

To flea and remain sane

Again and again

I'm told to “suck it up”

Told how to look and act

So I'll try and comply

To throw on my dress

And put on my doll face

Trying to fit into a mold

A mold created in 1983

Well no more acting

No more playing my “role”

I shall not comply with their “laws”

I am just as free as you

I shall stay silent no more

Cutting the strings on my back

You do not control me any longer

I will not be your toy

Before dawn the curtains

They shall be drawn open

Bring your friends and family

To witness the House of Dolls
