A House Intrusion
Once in a modern kingdom
With planes, boats, and cars moving by
A marvelous maiden was late to a house tour
And the house was a struggle to spy
Blonde locks bounce on her shoulders
As her eyelids droop from a restless night
“Oh, I’m so tired,” she said quietly
“Why didn’t I sleep early? Can’t I do anything right?”
Suddenly, the maiden spies an open door
With balloons attached to the mailbox.
Her turquoise blouse shifts as she turns
And walks towards it, adjusting her locks.
A knock to the wall is followed by a “Hello?”
Yet no one answers the lady’s call
She admires the grand stairs in front of her
And notices something bright in the hall
As the lady approached the hall with caution
She spied three burrito bowls on the floor
“Why are these not on a table?” she thought
“And is it for me they bought the food for?”
Without second thought, she sat cross-legged
And grabbed a pocketed fork with glee
“Of course the food is mine.” she reasoned.
“They wanted to show some courtesy!”
As the maiden opened up the first box
She was greeted with a wave of heat
Her first bite of beef turned foul
And she spat out the burning meat
Determined to savor the burrito bowl,
She shifted her sights to the next tin
Immediately, she frowned in disgust
When she realized it was completely vegan
A smile tugged at her lips when she turned
And saw the final bowl
It had all her favorite bits in it
But it went completely cold!
She decided to use this chance
And peruse the contents of the kitchen
While waiting for the microwave to finish
She thought at what seat to sit in
The dining table included three seats
Which did not sit right with the woman
“Ugh, my OCD is killing me. Why, table?!”
“The number of seats should be even!”
She sat at a large cushioned seat first.
That sunk her farther into the leather
Fearing that she would be consumed
She left to try a seat that was better
The second chair was a bright green hue
With black cushion acting as a headrest?
“Why is this seat in the dining hall?” the lady asked,
“Its use is for hardcore gamers at best!”
Though, the final seat seemed perfect
It was a wooden chair with old floral decor
So the maiden brought her hot food to the table-
But heard footsteps by the front door!
“I always was a klutz…” a man’s voice mumbled…
“Why did I leave my door ajar?”
A wave of realization hit the maiden,
But for escaping, she didn’t make it far!
Hours later at a police station,
The man and police made her confess
And so reality hit her as she was cuffed
And learned to mind her own business
