House of Pain

I took my first step into the House of Pain
Knowing no part of me will be the same

Monday
7:00 am
I feel so strange, woke up with my back hammering,
With a pain so strong, I lay, eyes closed and clamoring,
2:00 pm
After lunch, the pain is gone, but now my neck is stiff,
So I wait four hours in pain and now my neck can lift.

Tuesday
11:00 am
A good nice morning; no pains, no fret,
But then I took a breath and felt pain in my chest.
It felt cold and unusual and struck like a dagger,
So I ran to the medicine cabinet and staggered.
But I’d rather take the pain than a pill,
And risk the thrill of my heartbeat still.
Wait out the pain, I can’t bear it,
Take the hair between my fingers and tear it.
9:00 pm
Had the pain all day – maybe it’s gone away.
All that’s left is sleeping, an easy task,
I can rest easy without a wheeze and gasp.

Wednesday
6:00 am – 4:00 pm
No pain yet, the skies are clear.
Then when I thought I’ve had all I can bear,
Mid-afternoon, a toothache, pain in my very core.
Wincing with my teeth throbbing and my gums sore.
I try to hold back as a warm tear rolls down my cheek.
I fall to the floor, the pain’s too strong and I’m too weak.
Fists raised tightly to the roof,
I can’t scream to aggravate my sensitive tooth.
So again, I endure and wait, with my energy maxed out.
I spent the rest of the day agonizing and passed out.

Thursday
The pain didn’t hesitate to hit me with more than I can handle,
I woke up with the entire room rotating on an angle.
Partially blind as if this was an act of wicked spite.
My eyes couldn’t bear to gaze upon a morning light.
Time doesn’t mean a thing; a second of pain is eternity,
Asking, what’s next? Why is fate trying to hurt me!
I stumble, can’t walk an inch without falling over.
My mind began to process things slower,
My sluggish body couldn’t keep up with daily tasks,
So I stayed cradled in my bed until the pain passed.
My head at an angle, feeling emotionally drained,
Hoping to get blood rushing in my veins.

Friday
I expect the worse and that’s what I got for my troubles.
A load of pain, can’t describe the immense doubles.
Feeling my entire sanity crumble,
But what’s this?
An end to the week I wished for,
I rush to the door,
From this House of Pain,
I condemn,
For I will be gone for this entire weekend,
Only to return the next week and repeat the process again.
