How
Dare to be different
Dare to be you
but my dear, how will you get there
misunderstood and shushed at times
quieted and put out mind
questions of how and why arise
but no one understands what's quiet on your mind
turn to mom, turn to dad, turn to grandma
and see sad in their eyes
it's hard to ask for help when you notice that your resources are drained
yet they give and they give
and you dare to change
change for the better
change for the world
change for them all
but it's hard to get there
how will you make it, when it's hard to fake it
real is in your mind
but on the real there's nothing
you think and you think but nothing comes about
at times you swear you just want to shout
but you must be strong and not cry
at times you may even appear shy
watching and waiting and granting your teeth
my dear you have many problems that are near
but there's no need to fear one day you'll get there
and you'll face your problems without a tear in your eye
you'll help mom and dad
and give thanks to grandma
you strut and you'll shout
because you are a stand-out
so don't cry now
hold you head up high
there's no need to ask why nor how
what you do you'll do well
and you know how
because you were born with a gift
and have one special wish
confused but not broken
dreams shatter but not scattered
the pieces are all there because you my dear
have nothing to worry
and nothing to doubt so please don't shout
till you know what it's all about
smile on good days and don't fret the bad
just be glad that you have somewhere to rest your head
though scared at times don't load your mind
my dear you are special
my dear you'll be fine
so please, please, please
rest your mind
