This is How
This is how I die
Stick a needle in my eye
For each deceiving lie
This is how I die.
This is how I live
A gentle touch my father will give
But each time I will forgive
This is how I live.
I only lie to save my father’s honor
I only forgive to make my father happy
Each needle going in I no longer feel but I can hear
Each touch reminds my father of my mother in heaven
This is how I live
And this is how I die
I live to serve my father’s whims and pleasures
I die to protect my father’s image and sanity
My brothers stand by and watch furiously
They are not convinced of our father’s purity
I finally cry and tell the truth
About the mighty king and his purpose for me
My father is taken and the magician grants me sight
He asks why I would lie for someone not of flesh and blood
I reply, “He was in love with my mother. What other reason need there be?”
This is how I live.
