How to Achieve Perfection

tell me again how i fail

what is it you see in me?

Fat Ugly Stupid

yes i know those words

i know them quite well

they are my only companions

they are

i never look in the mirror

why not, you ask?

Fat Ugly Stupid

those words weigh on my soul

but i let them linger because

they are my only companions

they are

i dread my reflection

don’t you know why?

Fat Ugly Stupid

those words are my sin

but still they stay here

they are my only companions

are they?

I looked in the mirror today

do you know what I saw?

Fat Ugly Stupid

for a moment longer they stayed

but I let them go

because I was wrong about them

they aren’t

they aren’t my companions

do you know why?

fat ugly stupid

no longer apply to me

I am imperfect, yes

but in that I am perfection

Claudan

Hi! I'm Jenna. I'm getting ready to start college in January, where I'll be taking basic classes for two years before (hopefully) transferring to SCAD for interior design. I've been writing since... well, a very long time, and I've been drawing even longer than that, I don't usually write poetry, but when inspiration strikes, I'll write something. A lot of the poetry I've written has something to do with things I've noticed about myself and especially how people act around me or REact to me, but occasionally I'll produce something that has to do with little things in the world around me. Don't mind me. I'm awkward and nerdy.
