The How and The When and The Where

Location

Walking down the hall alone

Her legs feel heavy, dense

Her body seems so empty

Her thoughts are stuck in past tense.

There’s no set place she’s going

Plenty of places she hasn't been

But all that she can think about

Is the where and the how and the when.

Where will she find her happiness?

When will these nights pass her by?

How can she slap on a smile

When underneath it she just wants to cry?

No one understands, no one comprehends,

It’s a deadly secret to hide

That a girl so controlled and innocent

Could be such a huge mess inside.

Appearance and emotion mislead everyone

Life is rarely the way that you think.

It’s exhausting to fake being perfect,

To give up on that one missing link.

So go right ahead, figure her out,

Or just judge her without a care

And leave her trapped inside of this hall

With the how and the when and the where.
