How Do You Get Over Someone?

How do you get over someone you’ve never been with?

Someone who has never spent any time with you, yet somehow you’re convinced that he’s the best company you could ever have? And any time you spent in his presence is time well spent, even if you only sat in silence.

Someone who could be with you only for a second, and when he leaves it feels like a life time. A life time full of nothing but happiness and every positive emotion you swear you’ve never felt.

How do you get over someone you’ve never spoken more than a handful of sentences to?

Someone who may talk a mile a minute to everyone but you, it seems, can hold better conversations with you but only in your head? Conversations that for surpass any expectation you’ve ever had of conversation with another human being.

Someone who has never exceeded small talk with you, yet deep conversations are all you’ve ever wanted? Deep conversations about a future you’ve mapped out, though you know it won’t actually come to fruition. Deep conversations about dogs, if it meant you could speak to him a little longer.

Someone who steals your voice with just a single glance?

Someone who keeps that voice until you feel like you’re vocal chords are nothing but rust? A rust that, though it burns, you’d gladly bear forever if it meant their eyes never left yours. A rust that would induce a sweet kind of silence that only he deserves.

How do you get over someone you’ve never had?

Someone who has had girls before, but none of them you, so why do they matter? They are nothing like you and you nothing like them, and him better than us all.

Someone who you’d give your all to if he asked, even though any other boy that would ask you would get shot down instantly. Hell any other human would have no chance, if it meant in the end you could have him all to yourself.

How do you get over someone who is your whole world?

Someone who has no place for you in his world, though he dominates every aspect of your own?

Someone who is the earth, the moon, the oceans, deserts, forests, starts, sun, galaxy, everything your little planet needs? And everything you’re not.

How do you get over someone who scares you completely?

Someone who doesn’t even realize that his voice alone makes yours quiver tremendously? Who makes your voice shake like the earth when the plates start to shift underfoot. Whose voice booms like thunder across the sky, and refuses to quiet down no matter how much anyone begs.

Someone who scares you in a way that you never thought you could be scared before. Where you’re not terrified of him, just of what you feel for him. Where the thought of one day not having him around is the single worst thought you could have.

How do you get over someone who has stolen your poetry?

Someone who makes your realize they don’t all have to be about the pain you suffer. Yeah, he stole my poetry, and I pray to a God I barely believe in that he never gives it back.
