THIS IS HOW A DREAM DIES

This is how a dream dies

It sits, asks itself what it is,

Wonders who it was born of

Laughs at jokes that aim to ridicule it

It pretends it’s a dream of another nature for just a while

At least until the bigger dreams look away

It cowers in light

Looks for darkness where its dim light is welcome

It spends days on the sofas watching what other dreams have made

It cries itself to sleep

And in the darkness of the night,

It dreams a bit more
