How I Found My Voice

I thought to myself who I wanted to be

What kind of person did I want to become?

Did I want to be the same old me

Too afraid to overcome

All my fears of what people thought of me?

I always had an opinion,

But the mere thought of rejection

Made me just a minion.

I allowed my image of perfection

To be my pinion.

Lately, I’ve decided that it’s not right,

I want my voice to be heard.

Speaking up is my new plight,

My silence has been cured,

And now I have new sight.
