How I Found Poetry

How I Found Poetry

When I was young I read quite a lot

I didn’t play outside, I loved a good story,

playing outside was nothing to a plot

And the Redwall series was the best for me.

These books were of long adventures,

of brave warriors and mysteries,

Riddles and poems, so I was sure

I wanted to write beautiful words like these

Soon it became all I would do

In the night I’d jump from my bed

during movies, while cleaning, learning to sew,

i’d write down the words clanging ‘round in my head

Ever since this, I knew how to speak

and with poetry, life didn’t seem so bleak.
