How I Move

Mon, 12/30/2019 - 14:26 -- tcato

I am Black

which determines how I move.

I am a woman

which you should know too.

I am inspired by those

who came before me

Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth,

and Rosa P.

My skin color determines how I move

so I work like I have something to prove.

People watch my every move

so I walk like I have something to prove.

Despite the weight, my legs still move

so I press on like I have something to prove.

I am Black

and a woman too

my ancestors kept on pushing

so I will too.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
