How I Overcame My Fear

Everyone used to always ask me why. I still always tried to deny, To deny that I had a problem, And that problem was hindering me from being able to blossom. I used to say I felt all alone and abandoned, But how could I say I feel alone when I had a hundred people around me to keep me standing? People would look at me and think they were the cause, But the truth they didn't see, I was fighting demons within me and needed to bring out my claws. I told them all I needed was some attention. In the end though it became my true addiction. It took me eight long years to put that chapter behind me, And when I did my family and friends could see. It was a very long, dark path, But now I can no longer feel the demon's wrath. It takes a strong minded person to conquer a self-harming addiction, And I think they should all receive recognition. So you ask, how did I overcome my fear of becoming a better person? I pushed the demon's aside, took one step forward, and never looked back!
