How I started poetry
When I was a young boy,
I was taught that words could do magical things.
They could cure broken dreams,
Heal smashed hearts,
Or stop the tears of a crying man.
I was taught,
That words are powerful.
That if used wrong,
They could injure everyone.
I was taught to write,
To bring joy to others,
Those with misfortunes,
Those with troubles,
Those who cry.
I started to write.
To help those in pain,
To bring smiles to their faces,
To bring the rainbow after their storms.
Ever since a friend passed,
I've written till my hands hurt,
Till I couldn't hold a pencil no more.
Since then I've taken an oath,
To keep everyone I meet:
Smiling and happy.
