How I Wonder

Children escape reality with kings and queens,

with talk of lands far, far, away.

They battle dragons and demons and evil monsters,

saving the town from incredible peril.

But that's not how life goes,

it's not always sunshine and rainbows.

we are the monsters that they fight, 

and there is no king and queen in sight.

I wonder why they all have to have happy endings,

the good guys winning and the bag guys losing.

I wonder why girls have to be saved by some prince Charming,

instead of rescuing themselves.

I wonder why we can't be sad in fairy tails,

realizing it's okay to be sad sometimes.

I wonder why we can't make a realistic fairy tail,

teaching kids better morals that we could use today.

I wonder why we can't talk about real world problems, 

letting the kids know what's actually going on.

I wondder why we shield them,

from a harsh reality they shall face anyway later in life.

I wonder,
