How It All Began
Almost a freshmen in high school the new girl syndrome soon begins,
Entering adult hood now trying to understand,
Now trying to grasp what my life goals should contain.
Recently discovering that I have a passion for poetry
Applying my feelings and thoughts on paper,
Into something so beautiful, something so meaningful coming from deep within.
Encouraged by this recommended creative writing course
First assignment was to write a poem about “who I am”. But wait!
This seemingly easy question had me puzzled
So I asked myself; who am I?
Am I that beautiful quite Christian young lady who is always seen but never heard?
Am I what my parents say I am? Who am I really!?
The million dollar question.
So I thought and thought, tried and tried to look deep in my self
Past the tradition, past the imitation but deep enough to find me.
I actually took time to really figure out who this young lady is.
Am I that choir member singing praises to our Lord secret felt feelings of gratefulness,
Rejoicing shouting giving thanks for the Lord keeping me
For him blessing me with my riches but of not material Am I her?
Am I that talented tennis player?
Who strives for greatness and hungers for the satisfaction of making her parents proud.
Am I that girl who keeps to herself because she feels that her opinions aren’t worth speaking out about,
What about the young woman with the low self esteem
Who shelters her looks because in betted already are all forms of negativity about herself
What if I am all of that in one and more as I grow into my adult years bettering myself transforming my
Flaws into positive attributes
Exhaling! I believe I have begun to develop the answer to my question! I am it all
As my character my personality builds and as my mind, body grows
The journey of knowing myself seems to become more easy going
Therefore this assignment is now completed to my best abilities
I will pass with flying colors!
Soon after I found myself writing more and more the theme not being me but other things that
I find interesting, then is when my passion for poetry was conceived.
