How it goes

He was strong,

And I was not.

He brought me happiness and reality,

And I lived for fairy tales and fantasies.

He taught me lessons,

And I made mistakes.

He said words and blessings,

And I tried to listen and play it safe.

Then…

I was strong,

And he was not.

I understood life,

And he waited for a beautiful day.

I was living,

And he was dying.

I was praying and hoping,

But he was done fighting.

I was in pain

That he was gone.

I was broken,

Because I knew that this is how it goes.
