How it Happened

In the heart of these walls there are
tears to be shed
the carpet is proof
her blood stains bright red
The screams were ignored
the bumping unheard
Behind these closed doors
no one cared for her words
She'd shared a story about the devil himself
an award winning story
but in it she spoke of herself
He hit and he bruised her
for her body he abused her
like a doll for his pleasure
he forced and he used her
She'd reach for the Windows
but they would not take her hand
she imagined her freedom
away from this man
So once he let go
she ran for the window he ran full speed to stop her
she dodged his blow
A trip of his foot
a scream without sound
and as she look down
he lay on the ground
With fear she stepped back
and look at the bed where she'd lay
and soon in her terror
she felt a smile on her face
Her battles were over
the devil was dead
it would be a a sin to reveal
what went through her head
The people all knew
what he'd done to her
but not until now
did they ever think to run to her
But that didn't matter
her problems were gone
she was rid of her pain
and in the end she had won.

I'm 18. I have been writing poetry since I knew how to rhyme. Inspired to write by observation. I saw things happening, I took all my feelings and they formed words.
