How I’ve Grown Up

In the beginning shyness took over the life I lived,

due to all the problems.

The home was safe but the inside was a monster.

Too afraid to speak because I didn’t know what would happen

Too scared to reveal what was behind the curtains I went to school quiet,

no one asked because at school it was different.

Overwhelmed by all the joy I saw my mood was like them.

Laughter and fun, playing outside in the sun

At home, there was some good days.

There was also times where it was a war zone

I prayed, I hoped, I cried, no change

I begged, I yelled, I whined, no change

Family.

Helped me through some tough times, but hurt me also.

Friends.

They were the difference.

Me.

I was the change. Things changed and I expressed myself more.

What I thought would be impossible to change,

actually was possible.

I am no longer a shy kid.

I am a confident man, not scared of a task.

I kept my head up through the thick and thin,

And now here I am opening the door that I never opened before.
